"When you have more than you need, build a bigger table, not a higher wall"
After an incident at school on the last day before half term, Keji, Mo, Amal, Bea and their foster families are called into the headteachers office. As they unravel what happened we glimpse the every day bravery, joy and humanity of foster-care set against the backdrop of child asylum claims.
To Build a Bigger Table, written by Lau Batty and directed by Carlota Matos, is a new play which explores the lived experiences of foster-carers of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) in the UK.
Truthful, honouring and celebratory, To Build a Bigger Table tells the untold story of the children who are arguably the most vulnerable in our society, and of those who take action by opening their home and setting a place of welcome at the dinner table.
