Battersea Stories

Am I the story of Battersea? Perhaps Battersea is what I am. To be an area, you got to understand it, live it, breathe it.

Battersea Stories is an inter-generational verbatim theatre project aimed at discovering the stories of people who live in Battersea and its surrounds.

From residents young and old, we believe that everyone has a part to play and a story to tell.

Since Autumn 2013, Lightbox Theatre has conducted recorded interviews and workshops with over 120 Battersea residents in order to devise a verbatim narrative from local stories.

The material is currently being compiled and work-shopped with professional actors in order to create a verbatim show in 2015 that celebrates the area, its people, past and present.
